CDV Software has unveiled American Conquest, its upcoming real-time strategy game in development at GSC Game World, the studio that created the real-time strategy game Cossacks: European Wars. The game is set in the Americas beginning after the landing of Christopher Columbus in 1492 and continuing through 1813. Players will control one of 12 different nations through more than 300 years of armed conflict.

American Conquest will include four different campaigns--the American War of Independence, the Seven Years' War, the War of Tecumseh, and Pizarro's Expedition--as well as six historical simulations and 12 separate single-player missions. Players will be able to control the forces of 12 different nations--the Spanish, English, French, Aztec, Incan, Mayan, Sioux, Huron, Delaware (Algonquin), Iroquois League, Pueblo, and American. The game will contain a total of approximately 100 different units and 160 buildings, and the game engine will support real-time battles with up to 16,000 units.

We've posted some screenshots from the game in the gallery above. American Conquest is scheduled for release in the first half of 2003. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
